The Gospel Produces
The Gospel Produces Love For God & Thy Neighbor.
We must remember that in our fallen state, in our human nature, we CANNOT and DO NOT DESIRE to love GOD, never the less thy neighbor. The Gospel produces in the born again believer, love for God and other people. A genuine love, a love that is not achievable with human might. Thus it is the Gospel whom produces love for God and thy neighbor. If we say we already fulfill that without the gospel, like the rich young ruler in Matthew 19:16-22, we fall in a works based (legalistic) non-saving faith. We cannot gain favor towards God no matter how nice of a person we might be. “Our works are as filthy rags” -Isaiah 64:3. It is only through Christ and His saving work in us that we produce good fruit. It is a work from within. It is a circumcision of the heart. A heart transplant that only God can spiritually do. When we love God as we should, we will love our neighbor as we should. As it is commanded! It is His goodness that springs my goodness.
